Our chair is part of the Institute for Program Structures and Data Organization (IPD).

We are focusing on distributed information management systems. In particular we are interested in issues related to the integration of database and middleware techniques. Within this area we are aiming at developing new concepts in conjunction with their prototypical evaluation. Our diverse range of interests includes peer-to-peer systems, grid based data management, data management in ubiquitous environments, mobile data management as well as digital libraries and e-commerce.
